Construction firms and public agencies are seeking small businesses to bid on Federally funded construction projects. Those businesses who register as a government contractor in the System for Award Management (SAM) can self-certify as a small business. Certified small businesses may be given preferential consideration when bidding on prime contracts and subcontracts for upcoming construction projects, including the new Multimodal Transit Center scheduled for construction beginning in spring of 2014 in downtown Duluth.
Note: This is a different certification than a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise; qualifications for this certification are based on the amount of revenue and the number of employees in the business.
The Duluth Transit Authority, together with the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-Superior, the Small Business Administration, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Wisconsin Procurement Institute, and the Duluth Builder’s Exchange, will present an overview of the SBA requirements and provide help for businesses to register in the System for Awards Management (SAM). The workshop is free and open to everyone, regardless of location or type of business. Computers will be available for attendees to register in SAM.
The workshop is free of charge, but please RSVP at:
