    Disability Freedom & Justice Caravan Arrives in Superior, Wisconsin for Community Event on July 15th


    Superior, WI – June 24, 2024 – indiGO, Access North Center for Independent Living, and Arc Northland are proud to host the Disability Freedom & Justice Caravan arriving on July 15, 2024. This inspiring event will take place at City Center Park in Superior, Wisconsin, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The caravan, which advocates for disability rights and justice, will bring together community members, activists, and organizations for an event of celebration, education, and empowerment.

    The event will feature a range of activities designed to promote awareness, inclusion, and community engagement:
    • Opening Ceremony: Local leaders sharing a community proclamation on disability freedom & justice.
    • Tom Olin Disability Rights Art Exhibit: Historic photographic history of the disability rights movement.
    • Disability Rights Kiosks: View personal stories from across the country of the independent living journey, current legislation or upload your own personal journey!
    • Voter Education: Information on voter registration & local services, support, and advocacy for individuals with disabilities and their families.
    • Food and Refreshments Provided!
    “The Disability Freedom & Justice Caravan is a vital initiative that shines a light on the rights and freedoms of individuals with disabilities,” said Jill Nyberg, Executive Director from indiGO. “We are honored to host this event in Superior and provide a platform for raising awareness and fostering community solidarity.”

    Don Brunette, Executive Director of Access North Center for Independent Living, emphasized the importance of community involvement. “This event is not just for individuals with disabilities; it’s for everyone. It’s a chance for our entire community to come together, learn, and support one another in the pursuit of justice and equality.”

    Amanda Crosby, Director of Arc Northland, added, “The collaboration between our organizations and the broader community is crucial in driving change. We invite everyone to join us on July 15th to stand in solidarity and celebrate the advancements we’ve made, while also recognizing the work that still lies ahead.”
