FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STRIDE Paratransit to Join Fixed Route Service as DTA Entity
Effective January 1st, 2021, the operations of STRIDE Paratransit Service previously managed by contract will be brought in-house by the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA). There will not be noticeable changes to the service, as the driving and support teams will become DTA employees. The fleet vehicles and hours of operation will also remain the same. “With the latest contract near expiration, the DTA team performed a cost analysis and determined that efficiencies existed within the DTA that will allow STRIDE to be managed effectively by our organization.” Said Phil Pumphrey, DTA General Manager.
In January 2021, STRIDE passengers can expect to see the same drivers and access to the service that they are accustomed to. The DTA is excited to bring the more than 30 current STRIDE team members aboard as DTA employees, and to offer the same valuable service to the community moving forward.
