  • Superior Choice Credit Union branches to collect non-perishable food items for local food shelves

    June 06, 2018
During the entire month of June, Superior Choice Credit Union will be aiding our community’s hungry by holding a food drive at all six SCCU branches. During the drive, both members of the credit union and the community at large are invited to bring non-perishable food items to any branch of SCCU.

“Superior Choice Credit Union has been a long-time supporter of our local food shelves,” SCCU President/CEO Gary Elliott said. “We know that having food on the table can be a struggle for some of our members, especially during the summer months when students aren’t getting meals at school. Hopefully this food drive will help stock the shelves of local food banks during summer months when donations can be slow compared to during the holiday season.”

Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected in boxes, and at the end of June the boxes will be transported to various local food shelves near each branch. Branches will collect non-perishable food items for food shelves corresponding with each location:
    • The Hermantown branch will be collecting food to the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank
    • Ashland and Mellen branches will be collecting items for their local BRICK Ministries food shelves
    • The Duluth Denfeld branch will collect food for the West Duluth CHUM Food Shelf
    • Tower Avenue and Shoreline branches in Superior will collect food for the Northwest Wisconsin Community Services Agency (NWCSA) food shelf
Donation boxes are available at each Superior Choice Credit Union branch. For more information, visit www.superiorchoice.com/blog.
