UW-Superior Orchestra Concerto Concert to feature competition winners
The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department presents its Orchestra Concerto Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in UW-Superior’s Thorpe Langley Auditorium.
Featuring the winners of UW-Superior’s Orchestra Concerto Competition, soprano Victoria Thompson and flautist Kendra Schmidt, the evening will include “Concertino for Flute and Orchestra” by Cecile Chaminade, “Voi lo sapete, o mamma” from “Cacalleria Rusticana” by Pietro Mascagni and Symphony No. 9 “The New World” by Antonin Dvorak.
“This is an exciting program which showcases the talent we have at UW-Superior,” said Erin Aldridge, UW-Superior Chamber Strings director. “This program also features one of the most well-known and favorite symphonies by Dvorak.”
Tickets, which can be purchased with cash or check at the door, are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and free for students.
