  • UW-Superior to celebrate grand opening of Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being

    The University of Wisconsin-Superior will celebrate the grand opening of the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being onMonday, Aug. 27, at 4:30 p.m. in Swenson Hall Room 3117.
    “First and foremost it shows the commitment that UW-Superior has made to promoting and advancing mindfulness and well-being,” said Randy Barker, interim director of mindfulness and well-being at UW-Superior. “The Pruitt Center will be a community where individuals can learn, experience and reflect on ways of enhancing their personal and professional well-being to live their lives with greater meaning and purpose.”
    Made possible through a generous gift and support by Becky and Doug Pruitt, the mission of the center is to promote and enhance the science and practice of mindfulness and well-being for students, faculty, staff, and surrounding communities.
    “The Pruitt’s generosity and commitment to the university, education, and well-being is inspiring. The Pruitt Center will position us to continue our mission of outreach and impact on our community in a unique and meaningful way,” said Chancellor Renée Wachter.
    The Pruitt Center will become a gathering hub, serving to provide mindfulness and well-being resources and expertise, learning projects, and personal/professional development activities. The Pruitt Center is committed to advancing the science and practice of mindfulness and well-being, The Pruitt Center will utilize a multidimensional framework that recognizes a diverse population within the UW-Superior campus and surrounding region. The center will also focus efforts on establishing partnerships and collaboration across campus and the greater community.
    Swenson Hall is located at 1610 Weeks Ave.
