The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host the second in a series of free beekeeping workshops on Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to noon in Swenson Hall Room 1013.

Taught by Dr. Edward Burkett, UW-Superior biology professor and apiary manager, Beekeeping 102: Let’s Talk Bees is designed to teach first-year beekeepers how to care for new honey bees. This workshop is ideal for first-year beekeepers that have previously completed an introductory beekeeping workshop, but will prove beneficial to second-year beekeepers.

Topics covered will include honey bee biology, installing packages and hiving nucs, first-year spring and early summer hive management, how to perform a hive inspection, honey bee diseases and parasites, swarm prevention and a Q-and-A session.

This free workshop is limited to 30 participants. Registration is available at www.cvent.com/d/ztq6n8. Swenson Hall is located on the UW-Superior campus at 1610 Weeks Ave.
