Students in the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Honey Bee Biology and Scientific Beekeeping class will be performing honey extraction demonstrations and selling UW-Superior Apiary honey and lip balm on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the breezeway between the Oexemann Greenhouse and Barstow Hall. Optimal viewing time for the honey extraction will be from 11 a.m. to noon.
Students and professor Edward Burkett will provide demonstrations on how the honey is extracted, filtered and bottled. So far this year, UW-Superior honey bees have produced 350 pounds of honey.
Free honey samples will be available. The honey is 100 percent natural with no additives or preservatives. All proceeds from sales of UW-Superior Apiary Pure Wildflower Honey and lip balm are used to support the UW-Superior Apiary and initiatives of the Urban Honey Bee Project.
Barstow Hall is located at 816 N. 17th St. in Superior. The event is free and open to the community. Event link: https://www.uwsuper.edu/newscenter/uws-students-to-sell-uws-apiary-honey-give-honey-extraction-demos_news3546961
